After the death of Venerable Reion Takehara the flame of faith at the temple burned higher and even more brightly, with Ekai-ni as the leader of the faith-movement. A new Buddha Hall was constructed and there was an almost constant supply of new equipment and provision of new buildings to help with faith and training. Recently, under the leadership of the present Head Priest, Venerable Chimyo Takehara, a great number of new followers has come into being in many areas. In addition to its branches in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and other districts where temples were built as spiritual harbours for followers, Shogyoji has established a Shin Buddhist centre in London at the request of those who live there. Currently a spiritual exchange with Korean Buddhists is also under way. This has developed rapidly and we are even beginning to have an exchange of students as well.
