A strong spiritual rapport
developed between them, based on pure faith and mutual understanding, so
much so that, when faced with various problems that had to do with Higashi
Honganji Temple and the misguided attitude of the Japanese government, trying
to exercise state control over religions, Venerable Takehara and Venerable
Chikazumi rose up together in concerted action. Until the very end of his
life, 11th November 1951, Venerable Takahara guided his followers through
pure faith alone, gaining a great number of dharma friends. His books are
Record of Attaining Faith; Sutra-Reading Buddhism; Regeneration within Reality;
The Solution of Social Problems; Record of Encountering This Light; The
Improvement of Fortune through Listening to the Dharma; The Great Castle
Rajagriha; A Collection of Uncompiled Letters by Rennyo and The Unity of
Three Bodies.
