In Shogyoji Temple service to the Buddha is performed morning and evening. The service of chanting sutras is called Gongyo. Morning service starts at 6:00 in the summer season and at 6:30 in the winter. Followers who live within and around the temple come together to take part in the service. All the participants, both priests and lay people, attending services at Shogyoji Temple, chant together in harmony.
