Three Wheels is a Japanese Shin Buddhist Centre in London, established in December 1994 by Shogyoji Temple in Futsukaichi. It is a place where individuals from different traditions can communicate with and understand one another and learn about Buddhism in general and Shin Buddhism in particular with pure faith in the Nembutsu. Its many religious and educational activities were officially recognized when, on 16th June, 1999, its administrative body, The London Shogyoji Trust was registered as UK Charity No. 1076610.
The story starts in 1993 when, following a number of meetings and spiritual exchanges between Shogyoji and University College London, and the establishment of an informal group of Japanese and English friends to study Buddhism, members of the Chikushi Gakuso Institute were invited to UCL to perform Gagaku music at the unveiling of a monument to the famous Japanese students who came to the College in 1863 and 1865.
