Shinran Shonin used to say, “[Amida’s Original Prayer] is entirely meant for me, Shinran alone.”
This saying reminds me of the way Shinran Shonin, who lived and taught for twenty years in the bleak and desolate Eastern District, would always be thinking how best to help people around him, afflicted by natural disasters and dire poverty, to recover from their wretched condition.
