Although “pronouncing the Name” is categorized as religious practice, it is only when we become aware of the great depths of the Buddha’s thought for us that we come to truly pronounce his Name. In our own experience this crucial point is confirmed in the passage from The Larger Sutra of Eternal Life, “We (all sentient beings) hear that Name and rejoice in the awakening of faith.”
