雅楽とは、喜怒哀楽を超えた佛様への感謝の響きであり、遠くシルクロードを渡り、中国、朝鮮半島を経て、佛教と同時に日本に伝わり今に至っている。当寺では、報恩講、永代経、彼岸会、お盆などのご法要で奏される。

Shogyoji's connection with Gagaku music first began towards the end of the Second World War, when Venerable Reion Takehara purchased a set of Gagaku musical instruments in order to keep these traditional artefacts at Shogyoji Temple safe from the wartime inferno.
